If you have a Chromebook or a Chrome OS tablet, please note that version 87 of your device’s operating system has begun to be released to everyone. The news is not too exciting and the focus is on more information from Bluetooth connected gadgets and new wallpapers.
Google released Chrome 87 in stable version for users, but anyone with Chrome OS on any device only started getting the update on Thursday (3). Common updates, bug fixes, and a few new features implemented. It’s not impressive at all or it will radically change your life, but here are the main things:
- Bluetooth: Now all devices connected to this type of connection should be able to display battery life. I tested it with a Logitech mouse and a Sony headset, both of which displayed data both in the Bluetooth settings area and the quick settings on the desktop.
- Background: There are 36 new options created by different artists. Some wallpapers are created using the Chromebook itself, the result of a collaboration between Google and its creators, as is the case with Dutchman Rick Berkelmans.
- Chrome tabs: In addition to grouping tabs in the group named and colored labels for easy identification, users can now press Ctrl + Shift + A to open a list of all open tabs, website favorites and a button. to close one by one. It is also possible to search for a term in all groups. I have tested this feature on my Chromebook and it is not available yet. It will take a while to reach everyone.
Other (minor) new features in Chrome OS 87
Finally, other minor adjustments and changes are present, such as the ability to change accessibility devices more easily and support mouse and touch, inside the interface that opens by pressing Alt + Tab.
Not this time Chrome OS gets the night mode.
